About Me

Welcome Fellow Sweet Tooths!

My name is Amanda Justice, and I’m a self taught baker from the midwest. Everyone has a happy memory that revolves around food: a comfort meal your grandmother made that had only her special touch, the first time you tried a chocolate chip cookie, or perhaps it was the time when you went out for ice cream with your father after a grave loss by your soccer team.

Food is more than merely substance that keeps the body going; the complexity of flavors overwhelm your taste buds, it soothes and envelopes you in warm, and it provides that decided comforting hug that embraces you all the way through to your soul.

After I returned to my hometown from college, I began baking as a form of therapy to decompress after my long, stressful work shifts. Over time, it grew to a flicker of curiosity, and before long, it became the topic that was on my mind from the time I woke up until I lay my head down for the night. Instead of baking for myself, I wanted to share the fruits of my labor with my friends and family. I began taking cookies, bars, even a slightly browned cheesecake with me to work. Regardless of my doubts in the taste, when I looked up from my baked goods into the face of my dear friend, I saw her face go from tired and strained to one of pure delight. Her smile beamed as she took a second bite. Before long, my other colleagues were digging into it. Instead, it didn’t matter what the dessert looked like, but rather the happiness I witnessed on the faces of those in front of me.

Everyday, I scroll through thousands of mouth-watering recipes on Pinterest, page through my growing collection of cookbooks, eager to learn a new baking technique, discover the next delicious treat to share with my loved ones.

What can I say? Baked goods are my love language; for me, nothing is more satisfying than sharing a decadent dessert with someone to make their day just a little bit brighter.

My goal with this blog is to document my baking journey; each month, I will have a theme of sorts, and I will share the recipes I’ve selected to try. I will share with you the successes, the failures, and the unforgettable recipes that I have accumulated along the way. I’m excited to get started. Are you?
